Get ready for a magical experience this Halloween season! We are thrilled to invite you to our Lego Stop-Motion Animation Workshop: Hocus Pocus Edition! Whether you’re a seasoned builder or just starting out, this workshop is the perfect way to unleash your creativity and conjure up some spooky fun!

 Class Includes the Following Materials:

“Build Your Own” Witch/Warlock Minifigure x1

10 pc magic themed accessory +creature set x1

Large “Pick Your Own” Tub of Bulk LEGO bricks x1

Small “Pick Your Own” Tub of Specialty LEGO elements x1

1 pk animation putty 

 What to Expect:

Hands-On Learning: Discover the fundamentals of stop motion animation in the Stop Motion Studio app. We will learn by doing, playing, experimenting. and our supply of bricks, minifigs, cool items, and more! 

LEGO Magic: Learn how to breathe life into your LEGO characters, making them dance, fly, or embark on epic adventures.

Essential Techniques: Learn and practice the art of stop motion with insider tips and tricks from a professional local animator. Students will go home with the skills and inspiration to continue animating at home!

Creative Collaboration: We all learn from each other here- even the teacher! Connect with like-minded LEGO enthusiasts, share ideas, and collaborate on exciting projects!

Taught by a Portland-based animator, this 1.5 hour class will introduce new students to LEGO stop motion animation and give students with previous animation experience the chance to learn new skills and use our animation supplies to make their LEGO movies.

Students should arrive fed, prepared to learn, and with a device that contains the Stop Motion Studio app installed and all necessary permissions activated (free app is perfectly fine!) You are welcome to bring your own device stand if you like, but it is not required- we can build our own with LEGO!

Meet the Instructor 

Aarica North is a freelance stop-motion animator, currently based in Portland, OR.

Notable animation credits and affiliates include Boots Riley’s I’m A Virgo, Henry Selick’s Wendell & Wild, KidSuper’s 2020 Paris Fashion Week runway show, LAIKA, Stoopid Buddy, and Festival Stop Motion Montreal.

Raised internationally in Mozambique, San Salvador, and Moscow, she brings a unique and collaborative perspective to her work. She has a BFA in Film & TV from NYU Tisch and has continued to travel as an adult, working in NYC, Portland, Oakland, and LA.

Aarica has taught workshops for Bricks & Minifigs Portland and is excited to return. Other teaching experience includes PHAME, The Sou’wester, MetroEast, New York Film Academy.
